Why I Created a Yoga Workshop

It was one year ago that this conversation began, I sat with a girlfriend through coffee & confessed I wanted to connect with people through workshops.

No clue what it looked like yet or how I was going to do it, but I knew it was coming.

I was scared that if I said it outloud I would have to do it but I wanted to and I knew that putting my idea out into the Universe would start it all spinning! So I wanted to say it and I didn’t all at the same time.

Like when you first tell someone you want to lose 10 pounds but if you do say it you know the next time they see you they may wonder…"Why hasn’t she lost 10 pounds yet”! Ahh...the pressure!

So I decided to step up and say it out loud. And I did.

But then the doubt of my own ego set in like I knew it would. Would my voice resonate with people? Would they come? Would they think I was Namaste Nuts? I didn’t know what it looked like but I did know I had to try! So the night was booked the invitation went out and fast forward to the day of the event. We were booked in fact, within three days!

As the room filled up (and the butterflies filled my stomach) I noticed one thing. All shapes, sizes, ages and colors were in the room. Through all of theirs differences there was just one common denominator… they were curious about mindfulness and they were HERE for more for themselves! These beautiful people wanted to know more & tap into their breath and bodies and just FEEL!

Often we get lost in the noise of our daily life and somehow it becomes normal. To be stuck at 80 mph constantly but somehow learn how to function within that space. We stop taking time for ourselves and I am not talking hour long massages, I am talking 5 minutes to ourselves. Somehow we wrap up time to ourselves to be selfish or don’t deserve it and by the end we are walking around barely feeling anything because it all somehow feels the same.

Time OUT!

I didn’t want this for myself or anyone. I’ve been there too often and it doesn’t feel good. You CAN feel. You don’t need permission. And THAT is what I knew I wanted to share, and they here listening. Craving this information in fact!

Then I saw the shift happen in the workshop. We started to simply breath and peel back the layers of noise to get into that quiet space where our “ness” lives. Our kindness, awesomeness, softness and stillness lives. We felt it, saw it and found out how to came back to it during this two hour reboot of connection through movement & breath. That simple.

So give yourself permission.

The permission to breath, be still and carve out just 5 minutes for you! Because you need it and once you feel it you will want more.

Bottom line….You CAN do it, anything really, even when you don’t know just how your own Workshop will transpire.

All I did was take one step forward every day. I committed to saying “Hello!” to that small voice in my heart whispering loud and clear that I needed to put my own voice out there and that I would connect with people, even if I didn’t know what it looked like.

I urge you to whisper the want from your heart out loud. Tell a friend or write it down because there is power in intention. Let the Universe know you are coming!!! Because when you do the magic starts and your whole world starts conspiring for you!

XOXO-

Kelli
